The Claus Heir

“THE CLAUS HEIR is a moving and evocative novel about the turning point in the life of a couple who just happen to live at the North Pole.  With wit and insight, Jo Anne Burgh examines married love, the desire to have a child, and what it means to be family. This is a powerfully affecting tale of secrets and surprises, real-world magic, the choices we make in the name of love, and the grace of forgiveness.  What a beautiful and heart-warming novel Ms. Burgh has written. . . .”

Described as “the perfect grown-up fairy tale,” State v. Claus introduced readers to Attorney Meg Riley and her client, Ralph Claus. In Becoming Mrs. Claus, Meg struggled to assume the role of Mrs. Claus. Now, in a fitting conclusion to the Claus trilogy, Ralph and Meg—also known as Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus—face their greatest challenges yet in The Claus Heir.

After years of delivering gifts to other people’s children, Ralph and Meg unexpectedly find themselves facing parenthood, but the experience is not at all what they imagined. Secrets and surprises abound as the Clauses navigate everything from polar winter to polar bears—not to mention Ralph’s ex-fiancée, a high school biology teacher with a few surprises of her own to unleash on the Pole.

In a journey overflowing with uncertainty, joy, devastation, astonishment, anxiety, delight, heartbreak, and wonder, Ralph and Meg discover not only who they are as parents, but the depth of their commitment to their family—and to each other.
